MAUI STRONG

Are you a teacher and need a 10-15 minute video to motivate and inspire your students? We are excited to share our online resource portal, featuring Motivational Mele, Motivational Moments videos and more!

This year, we have a special message of Manao from MACC Teaching team that you can use to start your classes each day.

We are also working to gather as much information as we can that may be helpful to our community moving forward and two resources from our friends in New Zealand and Australia that were created to support communities and schools amidst disaster can be found on these websites and we’ll also post them on the MACC Education site mauiartseducation.org.

TE RITO TOI - AT THE HEART OF TE RITO TOI is the understanding that schools need to help students make sense of the present, not just prepare them for the future. After disasters and crises, schools must as a first priority help learners safely explore the changed world in which they live. Te Rito Toi positions the arts at the centre of childrens’ return to schooling after disaster and crises. Grounded in Papatūānuku, Te Rito Toi is at the centre and soul of healing. Even amongst the chaos of seasonal transitions, elemental effects and changes, the rito remains strong as the heart of the kōrari (harakeke). https://www.teritotoi.org/

The Banksia Initiative is an informal cross disciplinary alliance of researchers, educators and artists providing information, strategies and resources to support classroom teachers and communities in recovery from the bushfires. The Initiative was formed in January 2020 from a shared understanding of the international evidence confirming the vital role schools play in individual, community and national recovery from disaster.

Education is integral to the Honolulu Museum of Art’s mission. The museum works closely with teachers and schools to make art part of the lives of students. Our goal is to help you make the most of your visit to the museum.
